Topic tags/keywords: resource tip question trick

I know a few people on here are using twitter. I was wanting to get fellow LJ’er twitter info so we can start following each other, and ultimately take over the world. If you want to set one up it is very easy. Here is mine:

I use Twitter, but I warn you, some of you may not like it, as I tend to Vent on political issues there rather than use it for woodworking! So, as long as you’ve been warned:

I do have a ‘list’ in the right menu there of woodworkers I follow, if any of you are interested.

This get me thinking about something else….How many IT people do we have here? It seems to me that a lot of the guys I talk to are in the Tech field, maybe it’s just confirmation bias on my part.

This topic (Twitter) came up on another post in here 9 days ago. It was pretty well a Great Big NO!

I did some research as noted in my comments on there. You might find it to be an Interesting read.

I am in the IT field … I do tech support for a computer software company. I avoid social networking sites like Twitter, FaceBook, etc. like the plague. I don’t need any more distractions. Yeah, I know, LumberJocks can be classified as a social networking site, but it is specific to my hobby.

wseand:

You just had to do it didn’t you. I’m about the most Open Minded person you’re ever going to not meet. Being, or Not Being Open Minded has Nothing to do with “scottyman’s” Post.

Did you even bother to read my other Post? It was a Researched and Fact Founded Summary of what goes on in various “Social Media & Other Similar Sites”. It was intended as a “Be Cautious & Be Aware” type of Post.

“The Dane” wrapped it up quite nicely. He has also expressed my PERSONAL feelings on the matter. (Thank You)

BUT! That has nothing to do with why “scottyman” started this post. It started for the reason stated in his heading and there is Absolutely Nothing wrong with that!! My Post here was NOT in any way an attempt to Interfear with or Discredit his GOOD Intentions.

The Pic below is an example of what I was reffering to in the way of Caution, even for Photobucket.

First of all I did ONLY what Photobucket OPENLY ALLOWS and as stated in my Other Post, “Other Peoples” Security Settings in Photobucket. “Twitpics” is about the same.

The Picture “Migrated” from someone elses “Bucket Account” into MY Account, was Resized, Saved, Posted Here or ANYWHERE else I would care to “Post or Send It”.

EDIT: I removed the picture from Photobucket that was shown here. Even though it was TOTALLY on the “Up And Up” It (personally) was not the right thing to be doing.

Regards To All: Rick

Rick I totally agree with everything you have to say, who am I really to cast any doubt on the validity of anything you say. I just hope as Adults that we can be smart enough to not post or tweet slander, harassment, and other unlawful stuff on the web. I don’t post anything that I don’t want or care if others know.

All Scottymann was trying to do, and I am assuming, was start a thread to connect with others on another format or whatever they are called. I don’t think he was looking for another IT guru to tell everybody how bad it was, that was certainly evident in the other post. As always Rick, I do look back at what I say and if I feel I made a error in judgment I attempt to remedy it. I do see that all you were trying to do is assist and for that I do apologize. And, I did find your post interesting, now that I read it.
