Help with choosing an accent wood

I’m getting ready to start a roubo style workbench. I’ll be using doug fir for the primary wood and thought some darker accent strips would look nice.
Any suggestions for a wood that’s darker that I wouldn’t have to worry about the difference in hardness, etc., causing problems? FYI- shop is unheated and no ac, so it’ll be at the mercy of the weather.

You can never go wrong with walnut.

Work benches don’t need accents. And picks don’t need pearl handles!
