I think such a forum would be useful to allow us to share deals & discounts which we may learn about with our other LJ’s. As a fellow cheapsake I second this notion. |

Don’t we share that info anyhow ? -- https://www.artisticwoodstudio.com/videos wood crafting & woodworking classes |

Jim, yes to some extent, we do share. But it would be convenient to have one place to go to check for or post info on deals and discounts. Be nice to be able to share that Rockler has free shipping, Lee Valley has a special price on jig & fixture hardware, etc. Jim -- A veteran is someone who, at one point in his/her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America," for an amount of "up to and including his/her life". |

I agree. by clicking watch at the top this one thread will have those posts dealing with power deals. We won’t have to hunt for them. And you can uncheck ‘watch’ at any time. -- The smell of wood, coffee in the cup, the wife let's me do my thing, the lake is peaceful. |

I’ll add this. This is good especially for people newer to woodworking. Woodfinder is a website to type in what you want and your zip code. It will tell you where they are. -- The smell of wood, coffee in the cup, the wife let's me do my thing, the lake is peaceful. |

I’ve grabbed countless deals over the years from wwing forums…nice to have them posted in a specific forum. -- Happiness is like wetting your pants...everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth.... |

I guess it’s a good idea for people who look at the forums by topic. Personally, I look at all the posts together, and don’t even pay attention to which forum they were posted to. One downside is that if you start getting too many different forum subjects, it gets hard to know which one to put your post under… especially if it touches on a few different things, like the great deal I got on a table saw accessory that will increase my shop safety quite a bit. Now do a post that in the “Deal” forum, the “Woodworking Tools and Accessories” forum, or the “Safety” forum? -- Charlie M. "Woodworking - patience = firewood" |

Couldn’t these go in the “Wood working Tools and Accessories”? That forum is already about investing in tools, seems a logical extension to me. I agree with CharlieM that too many categories will get to confusing to post or search. I like the KISS approach to things (keep it simple s…) :-) -- "Checking for square? What madness is this! I think there should be a completely separate thread that contains only deals and discounts. |

If tabs and forums keep adding for specialties, the Forums will start on page 2 after the catagories :-)) Looks like there might be room for one more tab at teh top of teh page?? -- Bob in WW ~ "some old things are lovely, warm still with life ... of the forgotten men who made them." - D.H. I’m with all above who said no. We have enough Forums already. As stated above it could go in the “Woodworking Tools And Accessories”. You could use a Heading for the Post such as “Great Deal On …..” or “Sale on …”. OR!? Add ONE Word to the Forum … “Woodworking Trade (And) Swap And Deals”. (I like that idea…LOL…) Also LJ’s is a World Wide Site. SOME deals on the WWW with the Larger Companies MIGHT work within a Specific Geographical Location, it probably won’t in other areas. I live in Canada and have bought a few items from the US. By the time they got here and after Duty, Customs Clearance, Brokerage Charges etc. It was no longer a “Deal”. Especially when UPS is involved. (NO Disrespect intended to anyone, other than UPS) I WILL however buy from whatever source necessary if it is NOT available up here. I’m not Totally sure of this but if there is a Deal in you Local Home Depot or Lowes it will probably NOT apply up here or possibbly other Locations within the US. Lee Valley would be an exception. They got their start in Mail Order and have Shipping down to a science Plus Retail Stores spread across Canada. I also aree with Charlie that it is Very Apparent that some LJ’s are confused about what Forums, Reviews or PROJECTS they should be Posting in. (NO! I don’t want to start that again.) Don’t get me wrong. I think the idea itself is basically a good one, We all like to get a deal if possibble and wanting to SHARE that Information with others speaks to Your Admirable Qualities Jim. I’ve used the D&D forum on another WW site quite a bit. It can help you save quite a bit but also burn money all at the same time! I’d be all for it if one were added here – quite frankly I don’t see a reason against. Especially for folks that are just starting out and setting up shop (when basically everything is a need!), a D&D type forum can be very, very helpful in stretching your dollar farther. -- Optimists are usually disappointed.
