If you go to a really good fabric store they usually have a lot of different quilt templates. You can easily trace the design with a white(silver) pencil then go from there. There are endless designs available.

What do you mean by stringing? I’m trying to figure out how quilts, which usually made up of squares or triangles, help with a stringing which is presumably a linear feature.
