Yep, this is a good old fashioned lumber gloat. Sometimes, ya just get lucky.

The two wide ones are nicely figured 5/4 tigerwood measuring 18.375” and 19.75” wide and each is about 10’ long. The 3 lighter boards on the right are 5/4 ash. The far left is mahogany and the second to left is as yet unidentified but has some of the most interesting grain I’ve seen in a long time. I’ll post more closeups of that one later.

Grand total: $0.00

happy dance

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.
If it makes you feel better, I have no idea how I’m gonna mill 18”+ boards in my home shop!

This is the grain on my mystery board. Any thoughts?
I was told it could also be tigerwood.

Thievery?

I’ve never heard of tigerwood.

Congratulations! (I will never complain about another’s good fortune, even in jest.)

You say it was a “right place at the right time” deal. Since your profile lists no location I have to ask you to throw us dogs a bone and tell us what place and when, so that perhaps others might share your luck.

Finally, I look forward to seeing the projects that come from this wood.

Thanks for posting and best wishes.

That’s quite a score. As for milling the 18” boards either like others said get some hand planes and learn to sharpen them or see if you have a local cabinet shop that would mill them for you. Some say they can be very reasonable.

lol, no not thievery. It was being tossed in the trash of all places, but wouldn’t fit in the dumpster.
It didn’t fit in my Jeep either, so I drove home with them poking out the back window.

Tigerwood is also called Goncalo alves

Edit: added link

Now if you could just find a camera that would take pictures in proper orientation. That would be a gloat on this forum.
