Topic tags/keywords: drill press tool king steel city

I know a lot of you have been following my saga with Tool King and the Steel City drill press I ordered way back when. Well thanks to the intervention of Jude at Toologics and Maria at Tool King customer service I finally took delivery of my new drill press. Although it took longer than I thought reasonable to complete my order do to some miscommunications in the begining Maria (who must of called me at least 6 times) finally came through and the drill press is now sitting in my garage.

One of these days I will figure out the right way to post a picture. Anyway, I will post more pictures once I get it set up. Unfortunately it will take at least a week to come up with the manpower to put this thing together.

Great news! I hope the pressure that we applied via LJ helped.

Roger, I am sure posting on LJ helped.
Thanks Karson, I needed that. Actually I am trying to get my sons and husband to coordinate their schedules so they can put it together. Next week will probably be the earliest.
Thanks to everyone else for their support. I am really looking forward to this. I have heard nothing but good reviews for this drill press.

As someone posted when they brought their SawStop into the basement a steak dinner brought a lot of help. You might try that and schedules could open up.

KC strip medium well and a baked potato. I’ll bring the Lithuanian Napoleanas Torte (a Omaha, Nebraska bakery classic). When do we start.

One of the great things about working with wood is all the tools that we need to acquire to support our “habit”. But, of course, once we do get a new tool it opens up a wealth of other possibilities that fuel the need to buy more tools. The cycle seems to be endless. Have fun and enjoy your new drill press.

That’s the one tool in my shop that surprised me at how heavy it was. I expected heavy with others, but a drill press is an impressively heavy hunk of machinery. Be sure to post pics when you get it setup!

I guess now I have to start looking at plans for a drill press table. I know I had bookmarked some I had seen on these woodworking forums and there were other ones I had seen in some of the mags I get.
I am planning on posting pictures of the progress of setting up the dp (if I can figure out how to do it correctly, as in similar sizes).

When Deb and I did our last 2007 tour I noticed JPW1995 had a cool table/tool caddy on his drill press. May he has a source to share…

Congrats on the new drill press.

As for a table, they can be anything from very simple to very elaborate. I finally made a basic table for my drill press and posted about it here. I did not do anything real fancy but, it was a worthwhile upgrade.

That looks pretty good. I want to dig out the plans I set aside for this and then decide. Unfortunately, the newest pain meds they gave me for my back are really kicking by butt. Will need to get off this stuff and hopefully find something that allows me to type on the computer without having to follow it around the room LOL
