I would like to get some cholla cactus limbs. about 1/2” to 1” dia. in size. I am going to try to make some Pens like shown in the summer issue of Woodturning Design. I have Myrtlewood, walnut or woodcarving knives to trade . Or we can talk about anything you might want.

Richard, Try a large big box pet store. Many of them carry cholla cactus pieces in the “bird” section of the store. They sell them for people to put in bird cages. I made a knife handle with this stuff many many years ago. I filled the cactus with a colored pourable epoxy, set the tang of the blade into it. Wrapped it well with Saran Wrap. Once dried I Used cylindrical sanding drums to shape it and finer grits to polish it. No lathe work but it did turn out nice.
