Topic tags/keywords: question humor dust collector

I’m resawing a bunch of exotics and will be drum sanding them shortly. They range in color from Maple to Wenge, with some Bloodwood and Purpleheart in between. I recently got a clear lower bag for my dust collector, so here’s my question: if I group my sanding batches by species rather than by size the way I usually do, can I build up layers of different colored sawdust in the dust collection bag? The air currents in the bag generally pick up the top layer of sawdust and mix it with incoming dust, but might it work if the layers were thick enough? I don’t know why, but I think it would be cool to have a sand-art-style dust collection bag by the end of this project.

LOL, You have to much time on your hands to be thinking of things like this. But heck ya that would be cool. I guess you would have to play with it and see how much of the top layer that gets picked up so that you could adjust the layers to get the Parfait effect. Can’t wait to see what you come up with this should be interesting.
