Hey guys and gals,

I’m trying to help my dad find some knives for his now obsolete Hitachi P13F planer. Seems they discontinued the blades and I was wondering if anyone else knows if another brand might work or where to find some new old stock.

Thanks!

-Will

Are they dowel located or solid knives like many larger planers use? If they aren’t proprietary then you could have some made that shouldn’t be too expensive. Grizzly has a variety of widths that can be ordered.

unfortunately they are dowel located (they’ve got singular oblong slots located about an inch and a half from either end.)

A quick google search turns up lots of places to get them.

Search: Hitachi P13F knives

Cheers,

Better order some extra if they were that hard to find.

Looks like you already found some replacements, but just wanted to mention as an alternative you could look for a local place that sharpens blades. I couldn’t find any thing to fit an old craftsman jointer I got on craiglist, but a local saw place sharpened them for a couple of bucks. Maybe you could get the old ones sharpened and then you’ll have spares.

I have a 12” Wadkin RZ Jointer that takes large knives they also have 2 slots in them, got the knives easily enough then sent them out for waterjet cutting of the slots, less than a third the price from England.

Have your say...
