Topic tags/keywords: bubinga

Hello,

I am building a jewelry box for my sisters wedding. I have a nice piece of Bubinga I am going to use for the front and back. Does anyone have any suggestions for the sides that would match nicely with the Bubinga. I really like contrasting woods so I don’t want to use the Bubinga all the way around. I was thinking something like Canary wood, lighter in color. I will be using dovetail joints if that helps.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thank You!

Canary would be nice if you can find a piece with all of coloring. Or one of the figured maples; birds eye, curly, ambrosia.

Waka, I agree with Scott that maple would look good. You might also look at white oak. Here is a box I did using these two woods. Wenge would make a great accent wood IMO. HTH
