I have Incra’s Miter Express and find that it is very accurate for small to med. crosscuts. I, however, make a lot of picture frames and find that although I believe I’m cutting accurate 45’s, I still end up tweaking the frames a lot to close up the small gaps. I don’t know what the issue is…me, the gauge, something else but it drives me nuts. I sometimes wonder if the shifting from one 45 to the opposing 45 creates a problem…

I’ve got two questions.

1. For those of you with the incra miter gauge (and better yet the miter express), how accurate have you found the system to be? Have any technique/process advice?

2. Would a shopmade miter sled be more accurate than the miter express? Easier?

Thanks.

I have the 1000SE no problem at all. You might be moving it a tad and don’t realize it. If you can clamp the stock in place you should get better results.
