I went down to the local fence supply yard today and picked up a few pieces of cedar. While I was there I noticed a stack of rough sawn pine boards. I inquired as to what use they had and the fellow replied “Aw, I just sell a few now and then”. I then asked “What do you want for the entire stack?” which greatly interested him, he made a quick phone call and came back to me with $150.00. I had already figured in my head I would purchase the stack at $200.00, no more… so I replied “sold” for the $150.00 price.

The boards are 6”, 8” and 9 1/2” wide (mostly 9 1/2”) and they are all 7/8” thick and 16’ long. There are 36 boards in total and the fellow said that they had been cut and stacked for right at a full year.

Good buy, you did very well but you have a lot of waste in pine.

By my calculations, you bought this pine at about 38 cents per board foot. You can’t go wrong with that.

Now we will be all looking to see what kind of project you do with this lumber.

I saw a $150 bowl blank today. Olive wood. It wasn’t very big. It’s still there. Good deal on the lumber!

Yes, I was pleased with the find. My wife needs a garden shed for all of her planting supplies and we need a spot to store the mower and accumulation of yard tools. I am thinking about a ten by ten shed with an old west (board and bat) look to the front of it with a nice sized covered area for the missus to do her planting work. We are also keeping an eye out for an old wringer washer to wash out used shop rags that will go along with the look of the shed.
