Topic tags/keywords: sander tool sale

Here is a link to what seems to be a great deal on a Festool Sander.

I am using an old Black and Decker Mouse to sand stuff now, has anyone used this sander and do they recommend it?

Edit – just realize that it’s a new model and it starts to ship on November 1.

I just saw them announce this tool on the Festool North America facebook page and was looking for a place to pre-order, thanks for the link!

I have this sander and it is just what you would expect from Festool.
Superb!

What would the normal price be? Just curious.

Just curious if anyone knows if you can connect a “standard” vac to this sander. All Festool stuff seems to be made for their HEPA vacs.

I connect a Fein to my track saw, (with the Fein hose, plug and play) but have to admit that may be different than this sander.

You can connect any vac so long as it has the right fitting, you just won’t have the feature for auto turn on and the variable suction of the festool vac.

I was under the impression that it was not available until early November. I just ordered one recently.

Yes, you can hook it up to a regular shop vac. You need some adapters. If your shop vac has a 2 1/2 or 2 1/4 hose, you need the smaller hose, and the adapter for that, and then you need an adapter for the smaller hose to the Festool port. I have both the Peachtree 10’ Universal Power Tool Hose Kit and the Rockler Dust Right® Universal Small Port Hose Kit

Both work on my Domino and I expect them to work as well on this (I ordered it), I like the hose on the Fulton item better.

You can use an iVac box to get the auto-start feature. Festool Dust Extractors are wonderful vacs, but you can clear dust with a shop vac and a HEPA filter

My wonderful wife just ordered me one for my birthday. I was considering a new palm ROS but most are in the $60 – $80 range that I’ve looked at and lightly used ones around me are still pushing $50 (not Festool) so this was kind of a no-brainer. The $50 next tool incentive seems like a great marketing idea if not a bit evil!

Even $50 off of any Festool product isn’t a very good deal… It just sounds good. That’s the evil part. :)

Yeah, $50 from virtually any other manufacturer would be a good deal, not so much with Festool. It would be a good deal if I could get another sander for $50 but I’m sure the “limited time” offer will have been completely exhausted by the time anyone receives the first $50 certificate. The other thing to consider is why in the world would I need two identical Festool sanders? I have several routers, many that have a certain profile installed and it’s never removed until dull. Sandpaper on the other hand can be changed in seconds.

Does the $50 certificate expire? Can I save it for when the Domino joiner goes on sale for $99?

Wouldn’t that be nice? On a serious note, they said in the Q&A part of the listing that the coupon is good until 12/31/17.
