I have a Diablo DD208 dado set, which I believe is the same as the Freud SD208, just specially branded for Home Depot. I’m getting tired of having to shim it so much when I dado for 23/32 plywood, so I was wondering if I could buy a 3/32 chipper for it? I know Freud makes a higher end set that comes with a 3/32 chipper so you don’t have to shim to cut 23/32 dadoes, but wasn’t sure if it would be as simple as buying one of these chippers to use with my existing dado set? The chippers are available online as replacement parts for about $20.

Freud's website doesn’t show a 3/32” chipper for the 200 series dado set. You could contact them to see if the 3/32” chipper from the 500 series would fit. It’s got twice as many teeth and may not be exactly the same diameter, which is required for flat dados.

Another option is to sell your 200 series set, and grab something like a Delta/DeWalt 7670 set, which includes a 3/32” chipper. Grizzly’s got it for $90….very nice set, great value at that price.

Thanks, I think I’ll return the Diablo set and order the DeWalt. I should still be within 30 days.
