I cheaped out on materials and made a reception desk from 2×4s and 3/4 pine plywood from HD. In handside knowing all the work that would go in I would buy something better. The plywood is edged with hard maple so corners are protected and I plan to cover horizontal surfaces with epoxy so I am not worried about those. The fir 2×4s are nicely planned and exposed so I planned to apply epoxy to it too. Not sure how it works with vertical surfaces though. Will it work or is there a better idea to protect the wood from dings ?
I am talking only about vertical pillars, the walls of the desk are metal.
