Topic tags/keywords: jig question

Does anyone have an opinion of the Jessem dowelling jig as compared to the Dowelmax? I have found many favorable opinions and reviews of the Dowelmax. The Jessem design looks like it was copied to some degree from the Dowelmax. If the price was comparable, I would favor the Dowelmax based on the track record, but the Jessem is $110 less expensive. I am not finding much info on the Jessem other than what is on their website.

Pictures and or a webiste would make it a bit easier to see what’s being offered by each company.
I doubt you will find anyone who has both and has used each extensively.

Another option is the Router Wizard sold by Eagle Jigs. It is comparable in price to the mortise pal. Probably not as fast as the mortise pal but more versatile.

I’ve also been looking at the Jessem. There is a thread on it at the Sawmill Creek site (Google “Jessem Doweling Jig” to find it). One poster who has the Dowelmax (and loves it) has tried the Jessem and is ready to sell his Dowelmax.

Deke, would the FMT not do exactly what the mortisepal does? Is it the loose tenon idea that you prefer?

A little off topic, but it relates to quality.

I have three Jessem router lifts and 2 tables, and they are so well made, nothing else I have seen comes close.

All the Best!
