Hi Everyone,

This is my first post here. I’m looking for a little help with the Dewalt RAS that has come under my care. It was working fine, then one day it just won’t turn on. I’ve opened up the motor and checked the capacitor for resistance, all good, reset button and Sinpac switch for continuity, all good, and everything seems to be operating normally.

I’ve also checked and there is power going to the machine from the wall, so I have two questions:

1) How do I check to see if the power is actually flowing to the motor inside of the box?

2) Is there anything else I can check before I call in someone to take a look at the motor itself? Would it be worth checking the actual on/off switch at the top of the saw for instance?

Thanks for your help, and let me know if I was vague and you need more information anywhere.

I’m not sure if that motor is similar to the older ones but check your contact points in the motor. I have had that same issue with 3 different older Dewalts and took a piece of 400 grit sandpaper and pulled it through the contact points 1 or 2 times and they fired right up. Worth a try.

Did you test for continuity from the plug to the box on top of the motor (with the switch on)? Rob’s suggestion about the points is good, if your saw has them (can’t find much on that model) I had to clean mine once.
