Alright folks, I need your opinions.
The wife and my parents both gave me a little cash for my birthday this year, I added some additional cash and started looking for a bandsaw. Was lookin pretty hard at the Grizzly G0555 based on the reviews here. I live in KC and can drive to their Springfield showroom for about $60 in gas, bringing the price to about $485 plus tax. A Rockler store around the corner from my office quoted me $495 on a JET JWBS-14DX. This saw also has good reviews, and lists on amazon for $969. Is this a good deal? The JET has a closed base and bigger motor. I have spoken with the folks at Rockler and WoodCraft, and their opinion is “the saws are similar, but JET used higher quality components and the fit and finish are better”.......thoughts?

either one will do fine, I love grizzly, but would go with the bigger motor on the Jet.

find out about service ,
and replacement parts .

i know grizzly has everything ,
even for like minded tools .

i bought a ‘lobo’ brand saw used once ,
and looked in grizzly and got parts and a manual from them ,
i jut told them it was a grizzly tool .
lots of tools are made in the same factory ,
just different logos .

bigger is better generally ,
but service is important .

Joe- I have the Grizzly G0555 and have no complaints. It was my 1st bandsaw and did the same thing, drove down from KC to Springfield, only I bought off a guy that was selling it from his out of business cabinet shop. The one thing about Grizzly I love the most is their customer service. I’m not the 1st but surely not the last to be impressed with their helpfulness.

Both are realy good bandsaws. I think it really comes down to do you really want to make that 2 hour plus drive to Springfield or drive around the corner. You might save $10, but what about wear and tear on your vehicle and yourself. The choice is yours.
