Greetings. I just took possession of a surplus 24” Delta Planer model RC-63N. This is my first spiral cutter head tool. I would like to replace the carbide inserts but I am having trouble finding them. Any suggestions?

They come in several sizes, and the shape can vary rom being stright edged to having a radius. Global Tooling has a farly broad selection, you might try to measure yours and look there. Are you sure they need replaced?

Can’t help finding replacements, but are you sure you need them? Have you tried following the instructions in the manual to reposition them first?

Cheers,

Thank you for the replies. The inserts are curved and appear to be “one sided”. Meaning only one cutting edge. There appears to be enough material left to grind an edge back on to the inserts although I have not found a grinder close by. I can send the cutter head to Newman and they will grind it for $450 plus shipping. Shipping costs from Alaska to North Carolina and back is not for the faint of heart. I wonder if converting to straight knives would be a viable option…?

Have your say...
