I took down a box elder that has been struggling for a decade. as the trunk and crotch is 3 feet and 5 feet I decided to resaw it. its about 8 feet in length and after initial slabbing the red color is awesome. well it was. almost immediately it fades and after a week its gone. I have tried to seal it with a fence sealer that has a uv blocker and it has at least slowed it but the color is fading. Anything I can do to stop the fading?

I don’t think anyone has found a way to keep the color in box elder from fading

Thanks. I was confused as I have seen some for sale with color that looked vibrant. I’ve sealed it best I can so i’ll see how it turns out.
