Hi,
I just bought a used Delta 22-580 planer. It dont look as though it has been badly abused. The price was great. But there is a problem. It makes a wavy scalloped cut, not flat. Nothing visible, but you can easily feel it. The blades are new. It feeds just fine. I am thinking either a bent head or bad bearings. Any other ideas. I was planning on putting a Shelix head on it at some point, just not right away. Thanks

Hi,
I forgot to mention that the head lock seems to be working fine. I am getting zero end snipe.

Did you replace the blades or were they replaced by previous owner. If the latter I would reinstall. Check that the blades are identical in width.

I find that if the blade retainer isn’t properly tightened or is warped, wood can get jammed underneath which will distort the blade.
