Has any body noticed the amount of new LJs we have on this site? (Wow) I wander if it has anything to do with the contests. there must be over 50 new LJs in the last month. Ive never seen a site grow so fast.

I found this place from an article in Fine Woodworking about three months ago. I’ll bet there was a surge about then, too.

end of August we had 1461 members… today 2368.
So, in one season we had 900 new members.

I remember that article and i believe you are right about the surge. If they all bring the quality of craftsmanship that you bring to the compitition Rikkor I think I had better get started now

Bryano, as one of those many, I think you may be able to thank Marc (TWW) for a good number of newby’s. That’s how I found out about the site.

I missed the part about no plexiglas. Unfortunately it is integral to what I was making. There isn’t a work-around.

I actually found this place when I was googling table saw fences. I wanted to make my own, and ran across Hutch's Design. That’s how I found Lumberjocks and have been loving it ever since…

I found LJ while looking for the OAK Factory. I have been out of woodworking for about 7 years now and all I could think of to get caught up was to get back on TOF but it’s gone. So here I am, trying to figure out what a Festool is and marvelling at all new gizmos. Amazing how things change.

Howdy, I’m one of these “new guys”... But found the site by just googling places to talk about woodwork. I just got online service again. Was working in the dark for a long time. I love this place, I was instantly hooked and already made some long lasting friends i can tell.. WHAT CONTEST????? I’d like to have another deadline on a project for myself.. Deadlines help me and inspire me. I’ll go look for the contest or whatever it is.. It sounds fun and a chance to learn , meet great people, and share in this wonderful world of wood.. Again thanks for everyone here who has given me advice and made me feel so welcome. NO question is a bad question, I leave pride aside when entering this site, and always leave with a little extra something to think about.. Patrick woodnut99

I came from Mark’s site also. When I joined LJ’s there were only a bit over 500 members and the growth has been interesting to watch. Many very, very nice people, new and old.

By the way, I see Deb has an anniversary coming up in the next few days. Happy Anniversary MsDebbieP!!

I’m new here. Found the site doing a dogpile search for lathe work. (Dogpile is a search engine that gives the top ten hits of 10 search engines).
I’ve brought in a new LJ – my wife. And spread the word to some others that if and when they look, I’m pretty sure will frequent the site.
This site has impresed me everytime I’ve been on, as have the members – and I’m not easily impressed.
And I had no idea about the contests. Interesting but not the sort of thing I usually get involved with. I have too little confidence and too much awe for the work I’ve seen on here.

and as for skill level.. don’t worry about it… enter for the personal challenge.
Have some fun. Yes, there’s a bandsaw amongst the gifts for the Awards Recipients… but the primary goal for all the challenge events is to provide an opportunity to showcase your work and to challenge us to try something new.

Thanks, Chip. Almost a year – can you believe it?

Its great to see new members and have such a great variety of Projects and Forums that motivate and educate me. I found this site from tracing a link to my website that I think Wayne posted. This is a great site and I feel lucky to be here.

I was on Woodnet basically watching the fighting, badmouthing and equipment bashing. I did glean some good things from there. Some post mentioned a podcast from TWW. I watched a bit as I like woodworking videos. At that time there was the shop tour challenge. I came on board making a vlog shop tour and have been somewhat hooked ever since. I’m not sure I’d have stuck around had I know there were so many tennis players, but thankfully one of them appears to be a decent golfer as well, so I didn’t let that jade me.

I forgot how I found LJ, but I’m really, really happy to be a part of it. I’ve told a bunch of folks about the site, but only one, my buddy Phildo92027 has actually joined the family.
I can’t believe how much they’re missing out on!

When a site such as this start to grow in these numbers, it turns into a giant snowball.

I don’t remember how I found the site, but I’ve been a regular ever since.
