It’s my time to look for an answer to this question… I’m in the market for a decent table saw and I have about $800. I’m looking for a hybrid and cannot seem to find what I want… I just realized that the craftsman 22124 was discontinued and so I’m on the hunt… can anyone point me in the right direction.

Thanks a bunch

I have a Jet Pro Shop that costs a little less than $800. I consider it a good, competent hybrid saw. It runs on 110 volts which was important to me.

I recommend a thin kerf blade with this saw.

My only complaint is quite petty – - Even with the dust collector attached and running, saw dust still accumulates inside the cabinet. You have to take the back off and clean it out every month or so, depending on usage.

While, based on my experience, I consider this a good TS, I would also take a hard look at Grizzly. I have a Grizzly lathe and jointer and I consider them to be exceptionally good tools for the money.

For what you are considering spending a good used saw might be worth considering. I would look at craigslist as see whats available in your area. There are a good number of good used saws available in you range. I was lucky and picked up a nice older unisaw for free, but those deals are once in a lifetime. The older unisaws are bullet proof and if you are willing to do a little restoration are very reasonably priced. If you want to buy new I would stay away from Craftsman or any of the other so-called zip code saws. Zip code becaude their model numbers resemble zip codes, ie 22124. I had that saw and was very disappointed with it. Grizzly would be a very good consideration as well as Powermatic and General

The replacement for the 22124 is the 22116, and is currently on sale for $800 (other discounts might apply)....Both have cabinet mounted trunnions, both by Steel City’s Orion subsidiary. The 22116 includes a granite top vs cast iron, riving knife vs standard splitter, Biese clone vs a real Biese Commercial fence, and has a one piece cast arbor carriage vs connecting rods.

The Grizzly G0661 listed as a contractor saw, but it does have an inboard motor like most hybrids. It has a riving knife, table mounted trunnions, and a one piece arbor carriage.

The Jet Proshop is another hybrid I’d consider, but it doesn’t have a riving knife. It also has table mounted trunnions, and a one piece arbor carriage like the G0661.

There’s also a new Grizzly G0715P hybrid, but I don’t know anything about it.

If you can get 220v, I’d definitely consider going with a full 3hp cabinet saw…new or used.

well i bit the bullet and purchased a Grizzly G0690 – 230V, 3HP. I figured if I was going to spend 800 + shipping, I might as well spend 1150 + shipping and get my moneys worth. I’ll review it later

Excellent decision…you don’t mess around! You should be set for decades with that one. Congrats and enjoy!
