Epoxy alternative under Monocoat oil

I’ve never tried a curing oil finish and am interested in experimenting.

Rubio Monocoat looks interesting.

From what I gather, using epoxy (such as West) to fill holes/gaps/cracks prior to an oil finish won’t work—the oil won’t bond/stick to the epoxy.

What do people use instead of epoxy to fill the voids when following with a curing oil?
