Do you have to have a portable saw? If so I have heard good things about the Bosch. I know one thing they make awesome hand power tools and almost all of mine are Bosch and I love them. If you dont need a portable saw and have the room for a larger saw I would seriously look around some more. For the price you are looking to spend you can eother buy a new contractors saw or a real good used cabinet saw at that price. There are a lot of good saws on the used market for very reasonable prices. In fact you can probably find a good cabinet saw for less than what you are willing to pay for the Bosch and use the extra cash for blades or other upgrades in the shop. This is one of those topics that will garner a lot of different opinions and has been discussed here many times before

Ditto medicKen’s response….even if you need the portability you should still be able to find a good cabinet saw for $650 or a little less and be able to keep your hitachi.
But then I am a strong believer in buying preowned and then restoring it.
