I called up Makita earlier this week with questions about the adapter to mount their routers on guide rails; wanted to know what routers the adapter was compatible with.

Anyway, the tech support guys passed it around, no one had dealt with it yet, so they turned to the engineering department, who apparently told them that while the adapter will work with their “old models” (the ones on the website currently), the new models are designed to work with the guide rail system. Their release has been delayed along with the rest of the 2010 catalog for undisclosed reasons.

Just an interesting tidbit I thought I’d share; it has me waiting to see what the new models look like, and if I can get a great deal on the current models when the new types are released. Or maybe they’ll offer them with systainers; that’d really reinforce my choice of Makita as a budget Festool alternative.

nice hearsay… curious to see what improvements their new tools will carry. I have been impressed with their cordless tools ever since the Li-Ion came out, and their other tools have been decent as well.
