Topic tags/keywords: lathe jet mini midi

I’ve never turned before but I’d like to start with a small lathe to make some bowls, dishes, etc. This came up at a local auction happening tomorrow and I’m wondering if anyone can identify it without a model number.

The new versions of the Jet mini lathes seem to be suited for what I want to do, but I don’t want to overpay… or let a great deal slip.

Any thoughts or comments are welcome!

Looks like the Jet 1014 variable speed lathe I had. Great lathe. Loved it, but finally sold it and bought the Jet 1221 variable speed unit. I wanted the bigger swing of the new lathe. I sold the 1014 for more than I paid for it.

JET 10×14, excellent lathe to start with. Have had one since 2001 and have no intention of getting rid of it. But I do intend to get a larger lathe something like a 16×42 in the future.

That seems to be the consensus from other forums. Hopefully I can get a good deal on it!
