Need to find a source for good quality brass hinges that dosn’t break the bank.

I need a hinge to work on a jewlery box. I want it to mortise into the top of the box and the inside of the lid.
The top edge of the box is 1/4” wide and 8” long the lid has 3/8” wide area to mortise to and is 3/8” thick.

I like the look of the Brusso hinges but the JB 102 is a little wide for the 1/4” sides. Also the cheapest I have found them is $20.95 at toolsforworkingwood.com .

Any ideas on hinges I mite try would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks guys

I looked at Horton already and I just went to csh. Didn’t see what I needed but I will call on Monday and ck with them.

Been playing with making wooden hinges. I can get them small enough and black walnut is strong enough but I had a little catch with holes not quite straight in both sides so I need to get a better clamping systom on my drill press.

I will try agean tonight and see if I can make it work. May need to get a stiffer drill bit or a drill press with less slop. I am only using 1/8 rod for the pin and drilled with a bit that miced at .127 for a nice tight hinge. Very little room for error.

We, meaning Horton, don’t make stop hinges. Is this for a box? Lee Valley carries Brusso’s box hinge with a stop-but it is a back mount-meaning not a traditional butt hinge.

Brusso makes some nice ones here, (they should be available through a distributor): http://www.brusso.com/Product_categories/BoxHinges/boxhinges.php

Thanks for the response guys. I Have been to the sites you suggested and it looks like Brusso has the only stop hinge I can find. I may have to spend the money but I am trying the wood hinge idea first.

Thanks
