Anyone know of a plan for drawing flat file storage, similar to what you would find in a drafting house or architects office?

Thank you,

I know this is quite an old post, but I use one of these metal filing cabinets at the office…I call it a map drawer as it is where I store some of the many maps I create for our ambulance dispatch centre as well as some of the stations. Now that I think about it a wooden one would be much classier (and probably quieter) than the metal ones. Really all they are is a series of shallow wide drawers. Shouldn’t be too hard to modify an existing filing cabinet plan …just change the dimesions a bit and add a few drawers…hmmm a good SU project.

I have built wooden flat files for my graphic art studio years ago. They have to be sturdy & put in a strong drawer bottom well attached to the drawer sides. I’ve had some of my early tries loose their bottom. If you use metal drawer slides use heavy duty. My drawers were 3 in. total depth with an inside depth of 2 in. Ant deeper and you put too much stuff in it & problems start.
