Topic tags/keywords: question router joining

I went to attach a bushing to my router last night and I cannot for the life of me find the locknut. So, anyone know of a good way to replace it? Can you just buy the locknut?

Are you talking about the collet? If so you can buy replacements for most routers

Try Freud part # FT1200. It should work. The nut is sold separately.

If you don’t already have a source for Freud—PM me.

@Kent Shepherd – The Amazon listing for the FT1200 says that the nut only works with Freud template guides. I don’t know if that’s accurate.

@Josh – I have an extra one I could live without. If you don’t track down what you need, PM me your address and I’ll mail you one.

Thanks Peter, I’ll definitely do that if I can’t find one. The amazon link is just showing an example of what I need. I have the Rigid bushings not the freud but I couldn’t find Rigid bushings on amazon.

Josh, I’m not positive, but I believe they are all the same. I use my Freud nuts and templates interchangably with my Porter Cable templates and my theaded Bosch template adapter.

Since the templates themselves are universal in that style, I would think the thread pattern would be also.
I’ll double check mine tonight.

A shameless plug for actual stores—-You can take your part in and check it out. Try doing that online. ( I know that’s not an option for many of you)

What size? 1 3/16” or 1 1/2”? LeeValley carries both, OakPark carries 1 1/2” many other store fronts carry similar products. I’m not sure but it is also possible that HD would have some or may have a kit for you to buy. Does Ridgid actually supply brass insert/template guides? Finally a manufacturer that learned! But, I bet they still use spindle locks :-(

Have your say...
