I am thinking of removing the plate that reduces the opening to the blower on my delta 50-850. It would make for a 6” opening which would draw from the 6” opening of a super dust deputy. Is there a downside to this that I don’t yet understand? Thanks!

The only possibility I would worry about is that you may allow too much air into the blower, which would overload and (maybe) damage the motor. This is easily checked by monitoring the amps the motor pulls. That said, if you’re hooking it to a DD I really doubt there will be a load problem.
