Can you give a bit more background on what you want to do with it, it might help i.e. how much precision is required?

Second, would you consider an old piece. I personally prefer the old American Iron. You could look on www.searchtempest.com.

You can also go look at the old woodworking machinery site they have old machines.

Is it space requirements that make you want only a table top version?

I finally bit the bullit and bought the Wen 4214 12” bench top drill press.I paid $223.00 and I think it was worth it very solid machine weighs 90lbs. cast iron base, table and head variable speed is nice drills through 2 inch hard wood with no problem motor is 2/3hp.Very little run out no wobble in the shaft worked fine right out of the box all and all I am pretty impressed.

I’m not that economically challenged. That brand killed itself many years ago. Maybe they have improved.

They were on sale last weekend for…$59.95…...with coupon.

I’ll second the Wen 4214. Well packaged, nice features, easy setup. Works very well for me.
