When I open LJs I always go directly down to the LJs Pulse …. and before I click open ANY of the topics, I scan down the page looking at the names of those responding last to each post. Right there under the heading of “Latest Activity” I look for multiple posts by the same name (where the name is “new or unfamiliar” to me). Then I open that unfamiliar names home page and it’s easy to click on any of their responses where you will see the blue links to pretty much anything EXCEPT things that LJ are interested in. Then I send Cricket a message and she jumps on it.

Now, here’s a print screen of someone who has been here for years, but it caught my eye because it appeared that he was answering to EVERY POST that night, and all the posts were within a few minutes time.

At the first quick glance I thought “Hmmmm, JPJ? Do I know that name? Look at all those responses, he must be a spam salesman.” But just a quick look at his home page and I see he’s been around a long time. I guess “JPJ” just decided to look at every post that was made that day, and he responded to ALL of them :)

Sorry JPJ. I’m NOT picking on you, but this print screen is a perfect example of what I see some days when I log on, and it looks “suspicious” to me :)

No different than what Jim used to do the 1st 5 years he was here.
Maybe he just wants to get his post count up?

I just look at the projects and comment on what catches my eye. Or in the forums a topic I might actually have helpful advice for.

I guess it never has really been that important to me but may be misunderstanding of the severity.

My typical response is Spammer…yawn, I move on if a thread and delete if PM. Then again many times I have pms and just never have read them.

Have your say...
