Topic tags/keywords: draft save lost post

I would really appreciate it if the AutoSave or Draft saving feature could be added to the Private Messages. I’ll be in the middle of a PM and need to check another tab or site for pertinent information, when I get back to the PM…it’s gone :-(
I know I can ‘copy and paste’ to a note or some other place on the computer. That usually happens AFTER I lose the first draft. Usually.
Is this too much to ask? Anyone else have this happen?

Candy, I too have the same problem with LJ & other online “software”. I think the real solution is to create/edit it elsewhere, then copy/paste into LJ. Word has autosave. I actually keep a file called Notepad.txt around for this purpose. Keep a copy on your desktop and create long edits there(pressing <ctrl>S often. Then copy/paste into a LJ PM. I think overall you would be in much better shape if you got in the habit of doing that. I know that’s not what you wanted to hear. =|

Did you send a request to Cricket? Sounds like a reasonable idea.

Thanks for the tips, Rance. Why are good habits so hard to develop and bad ones so easy?!
Redoak, I have not sent a request to Cricket personally. I’m pretty sure she monitors this forum. She is a busy lady. I’ll be patient.

There’s no way to do what you’re trying to do.

And yes, that’s too much to ask.

:-)

When I want to get blabby, I compose in Word and they copy/paste.

Candy you are too busy and multitasking !
Take it easy and do one thing at the time and you won’t have that problem .

Good point Cindy, would be nice to be able to add a photo to a PM.

I can check on this, but it is not likely. If the system started saving drafts from several thousands members (at the same time) in addition to the forum posts, it might get pretty server intensive at times. Let me see what I can find out though.

FWIW I keep a plain text note open all the time to write out what I want to say and then copy paste it, but that is likely because I have lost stuff so many times over the years.
