A friend’s father passed a few years back and I am helping go through his tools. His wife would like them to go to a good home and it would be good to raise a little cash. The larger power tools are not easily shippable so I wont bother posting here unless any local Phoenicians are interested.

However there is a really nice set of 15 Swiss made Pfeil carving tools in the Pfeil tool roll. There are also a few extra carving chisels and maybe half a dozen random bench chisels. I see that a set of Pfeils now goes for approx $300-$400 so I have no idea what this set would fetch. I guess as always beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

If any of you happen to be budding wood carvers and would be interested in owning such a set please PM me and make a reasonable offer.

Thanks

Jon

P.S. Please dont ding me for posting a for sale as one of my first posts on this forum. I know I have only been a “lurker” here at lumberjocks but I have been a consistent contributor at the Sawdustzone (AKA BT3Central) and am just trying to help a friend find somebody who will recognize the value in such a set of chisels.

I’m not a carver, but have some Pfiel carving chisels for hollowing spoons and such. I use them hard. I’ve been seriously impressed with their edge holding ability.

Thanks folks for the responses thus far. Quite rightly photos have been requested. I will take some today and get them posted here.

Here are some photos of everything. I hope I have enough detail so those that asked about the markings on each chisel can read them clearly. Do check out the photo of the polish on the edges, The man that owned them was a violin maker and he really kept his tools in good shape. The random bench chisels are just basic craftsman or similar, nothing awesome. I am happy to keep them if you dont want them.

You’re looking at about $500-$600 for all of that, new. I’m not interested, BTW. I have about 7 times that many carving tools.

Congratulations dark lightning on your tool collection. I don’t think the op was asking about how many more tools you have than he does, dark lightning, nor to have his judgment slammed. He clearly stated he had no idea what the tools were worth. He’s asking what fellow carvers think they are worth, as is.

Hey steady guys no issues here. I am happy for all input and am thankful there have been a few interested parties PMing me. I know that the original owners wife will be happy to know that they will end up with another craftsman that knows how to use them like her husband did.

And I told him what I thought they were worth. Sorry if I offended you by mentioning I didn’t need them and had more than him. The amount was just to point out that I didn’t need them, not to brag.
