A list of little shop tidbits (under $50) that I have found SO helpful or satisfying to use during my first year of woodworking. They are all items I wish I had been introduced to, or prioritized getting, sooner. Please feel free to list your own.

Micromesh abrasive pads (1500-10000 grit) (~$20)
Precision brass setup bars (~$10)
Dial indicator, caliper (~$30-50)
universal fence clamps (~$15)
Card scraper ($10)

-- Optimists are usually disappointed. Pessimists are either right or pleasantly surprised. I tend to be a disappointed pessimist.

I would put clamps and measuring tools high on the list
