Looking to buy a few chisels, mostly curved ones and especially smaller curved ones. I only have a few chisels and my sons enjoy tapping them with a mallet and making pictures in pieces of wood. Please post a photo if you have anything.

I have a few that I use from time to time. My suggestion is to buy Pfiel. Amazing edge holding ability, or durability. I work them pretty hard. I should also mention that they offer a zillion options on edge shape and size, so it isn’t easy to decide exactly what you need.

I have been collecting W. Butcher stuff for years. Cast steel, well forged, easily sharpened, and some heritage.
Might wanna check ‘em out.
Just what I do.

Carving gouges are among the hardest woodworking tools to find used, in my experience. Not sure why – people hold onto them, I guess. Plus way fewer of them are made than straight chisels, I guess.
I was fortunate enough to have an unfortunate friend whose arthritis made her unable to carve. She gave me her gouges.

What’s a fair price for used Butcher ones? I was at a flea market and saw some that needed quite a bit of work to get them back in shape. The guy wanted 35.00 for 2. He also had some buck bros for I believe 10 a piece.

Have your say...
