I really like the idea of the advertisement for the current contest being on the front page; it is a great way to promote it and keep the contest activity high.

And I was thinking we should save that space on the main screen for future contests. But what should fill that space between the end of one contest and the beginning of the next?

Here are my thoughts:
- Use that space to display the “Project of the Month” or maybe even a randomly selected project posted that week or within the past so-many-days or whatever.
- Use that space to display a teaser for the next contest. Of course, the next contest would have to have been decided by that point.
- Use that space to display the winners of the previous contest. Or maybe it could display pictures of the winning contest entries and then link to a larger “XYZ Contest Results” screen that has a paragraph about the contest and pictures of the winner(s) and their entry.

If memory serves, there used to be a spot there to rotate between the most viewed projects… a rotating gallery for previous winners, with links back to the contest pages is a neat idea too.

Hey Ethan,

thanks for the suggestions. I’m planning to do an interview with our winners, Mark and Roger, and then promote it on the home page for few weeks. I did similar interview after the summer contest.

Everybody, feel free to PM me the questions you think would be great for this interview ;)

I’m looking forward to seeing information on the next contest—as many have mentioned already, if the idea is to use a “theme” then many woodworkers would want to start now, planning and designing their entry.
