Hello all, I am new to furniture making and want to make a log bed for my house. I have a bunch of large White Birch both live and dead that have been blown over by a recent wind storm. Is this a good wood for a bed? Should I use the trees that have been dead for a while?

I don’t have a lot of wood working tools… mostly a chainsaw. What should I get and what can I do without?

Also any plans for a bed anyone has used that is simple and nice?

Sorry for all the questions, but I have a bunch of down birch trees and feel bad about just rounding them out for fire wood… So I thought I would try and make a bed and use some of them. I live in the Fort Collins, Colorado area if any body is interested in some birch logs. Thanks again. Jesse.
