Topic tags/keywords: jointer question

Not far from me is a store called “RETOOL”. They sell new tools but mostly used. I went in today for the first time and they had a 6in Delta Jointer for $129. It will need some love and cleaning up (General dirt and a few small spots of rust on table).

Is this a good deal on a acceptable machine?
Is Delta an Ok brand for a hobbiest?

I can get by without out it (just got a set of new hand planes for christmas), but my goal is to get the power version eventually and my wife liked the price.

A 6” De;ta is the usual jointer for the hobbyist. Along with Jet. There are also other good machines.

If the only problem is cosmetic it’s a good deal.

Have you turned it on and listened to it? Does it sound like it runs smoothly?

-- No piece is cut too short. It was meant for a smaller project.
