I have inherited a 1968/69 10” RAS need to remove the Drill chuck to service the motor. How to remove is the Drill chuck I believe it is threaded. Left hand or Right hand threads that is the question. it is so old that it has a 113-25901 model number. Any documentation

The nut for holding the saw blade on is LH threads, so IF the DP chuck screws onto that shaft it is left hand.

The drill chuck end on the right side of motor head is RH. So lefty loosey.

Hey JP….. Been tinkering with my old C-man RAS for a couple years now and love it. My “72” has a RH thread on that shaft and is a 1/2 inch x 20 TPI.

Me experience has been that a block of wood to hold the blade on the other side and an old leather belt wrapped tightly around the chuck then tackle it with large pump pliers.

always make sure there is not a screw down the center holding it on the shaft and chuck a large allen wrench into it

All The RAS saw blade side, has Reverse, Left Hand, Backwards or gas pipe line, thread. (Right Loose, Left Tight).

So from the posts I can assume that the drill Chuck side: has standard Right hand thread.(Right Tight , Left Loose). Watched the video – good suggestion! did not think of that. Thanks

All – Sears Craftsman Model model 113-29501 1968/69 year
I report success in removing the Drill chuck. Like the Allen wrench trick } to knock off the chuck.
Removed the Break using a plumbing faucet puller.
I could only find 2 screws that hold the housing together. Removed 2 10/32 mach. screws, one short and one long from the housing.

Question how best to open/split the housing without dinging up the seam? Seems a bit tight, opened up a small bit using a rubber mallet by tapping on the shaft ends.

Have your say...
