Topic tags/keywords: wood lumber california

Hello all,

I have decided to sell some of my stock of Big Leaf Maple. It has been air dried for at least 10 years. Right now at about 6% average.

Most have some type of figure. The widths are from about 8” to 15” and run from 6’ to 9’ lengths.

I am in the Sacramento area. I do not have a lumber yard. Just have a large amount of wood that I have collected through the years. The prices are from $2 to $5 per board foot. There is about 1200 BF in this stack. It is mostly full 1” thick stock. Some a bit thicker. Some natural edge.

Send me an email if you are interested. I am going to list this locally later this week. Thought I would offer this to any Lumberjocks who might want first picks. I prefer to sell a minimum of 50 BF. I will try to take and post some photos later on.

Thanks, John

Hi Matt,

No hurry. I am also very busy right now and will only be able to deal with the wood in about a week and a half or more from now.

Have Rabbet give me a call. I will send you my numbers.

BTW, How’s the boat coming along?

John, I have just made two trips to your area. One to visit a small mill near Zamora on Friday and the other to Colfax to get a dust collector today. I would like to get some of your wood. BUT, I have to see if another trip is possible. MY school is out on Friday!! Thanks for thinking of LJ’s first. Robert

Robert, don’t worry about rushing to get back to the Sacto area. I have a few thousand BF of Big Leaf.
Let me know what type of grain you might be interested in. I can set some aside.

Do you have thicker slabs or turning blocks, mostly I’m interested in 12/4 to 16/4 to larger, with figure. I travel true the Sac area frequently, I’m in Santa Rosa, my adult kids are in Redding. Thanks FordMike

John, I will probably be in your area after the 27th. I have a craft show that weekend and hopefully will be able to buy some more wood. I have gone through a lot (for me) of Maple making cutting boards. I am trying for a look with some good figure spread across the board with other woods mixed in with thin stripes. The figure I would like to get is a mid grade of curly or figured. Not too plain, but not what I would use for a nice box. I just did a board with some Cherry and Maple. Both had some nic grain to them.
