Hi all! So I’m a cabinet maker in northern Vermont and am about to make the plunge and buy a Supermax combo drum sander brush sander. Here’s the link from where I’m getting it http://www.acmetools.com/shop/tools/supermax-19-38-combo-brush-drum-sander-71938

Just wondering if anyone on here has experience with this machine and whether its as good at it seems. I’m looking for something to help cut down on sanding time especially with cabinet doors. Any feedback would be great!

Thanks, Neil

It will be interesting to see the replies to this, I didn’t even know those were available. I have a 19/38 (sander only) in my sights for later this year; enough good feedback I may spring for that model instead.

I’ll add a dumb question; what is the brush function for – cleaning up rough or reclaimed lumber?

I’m also eyeing up one of these for next year.

I have the 2×25” sander and I’ve been very happy with it. The brush is design for profile work such as moulding & doors as well as cleaning up reclaimed lumber without completely stripping it.

BTW, if you subscribe to Acme’s email list, they usually send you a 10% coupon a week later. Max discount is $150 though. I also purchase rolls of sandpaper from Industrial Abrasives.

Thanks for the replies, glad to hear your supermax is working out for you Clammy! I ordered it with the drum sanding attachment, in and out feed tables and 36 through 180 grit rolls of paper. I actually went though Circle Saw Building Supply http://www.circlesaw.com/sanders-and-grinders/supermax-71938-19x38-combo-brush-and-drum-sander/ they had it a bit cheaper and its shipping direct from supermax.

I’ll post some pics and a review when I get it setup
