Please help. I just got a Delta Model 36-5000 from lowes and the fence won’t slide along the back rail. The front rail is completely loose and moves freely however the back rail seems to bind. The hight adjustment for the back rail is properly set and the HDPE pad is riding along the rail however the hook is binding. I have hit the whole thing with sand paper to make sure there is no burr and tried loosening the bolts that hold the hook on to see if there is any adjustment without success. Paste wax also doesn’t help. I am fairly new to woodworking and this is my first table saw bigger than the kind you get from H and I wanted to check with people who know befor I go bending it back.

The back hook is really just to prevent lifting…it’s not part of the mechanisms that hold the fence parallel. You should be able to bend it gently back a bit until it clears enough to slide easily.

Get the saw aligned, and add a decent blade (Freud Diablo or Irwin Marples start ~ $30). Enjoy!
