I’ve got one of the first Porter Cable 890 routers that has proven to be pretty much useless for a lot of reasons but I’m trying to limp along to finish a project. The screws that hold the rack (meshes with a pinion type gear) for the height adjustment are stripped. These are screws that are about 1/8” long and seem to have a very fine thread. Does anyone know what the thread size is so that I might try and find some replacements? Or does someone have an alternate repair that might keep this in service for awhile? I’ve looked in the manual and can’t seem to find a parts list so I’m kind of a loss.

If I have to replace the router, I’ve been looking at the Bosch and Milwaukee 2 1/4 hp units. Both seem to have good points and I haven’t found a lot of negative comments. Any recommendations on that front?

I looked here: but the parts list didn’t spec the screw size. If you have a Fastenall store locally, they probably could help. Take to old screw and have them match it.
