I have the Bosch RA1100 adapter for older Porter Cable style threaded guides. I got a cheap starter set by ShopFox. There’s too much play between the the adapter and bushing. I haven’t used these guides before so I can’t tell if the guides or the adapter are defective. Or maybe this gap is normal. Hand tightend it moves. Am I missing something?

I have the same adapter and guides, for a 1617evs, and don’t have any problems. Are all of the guides loose in the adapter, or just the one you checked?

Do you know anyone else with guide bushings that you could install in your adapter to see if different ones allow the same movement?

I put an aftermarket sub-base on my Bosch router. It directly accepts P.C. style bushings without need for the adapter. My guide bushings fit snugly inside the new base.

PC 690 sub base plate is a direct fit on the 1617 fixed base—the 3 hole pattern is already tapped in the Bosch base, you’ll see it when you remove the 4 hole Bosch plate.

I use both a Whiteside zero clearance and Ridgid PC style bushings in my Bosch adapter, and they both fit quite nicely, not a noticeable gap.

I received the Bosch made guides, which included another adapter. The two RA1100 adapters are identical, at 1.370” ID. The ShopFox threaded guides are 1.354” OD, so about 1/64” difference.
