How much would you say this lumber is a board foot? $3.50, right? It somehow came out to be $7.00+ to have
five 2×10x8’s cut from and 9 foot beam. When i ask about the sawing fee I was simply told how good of a price that was, then the maple beams were compared to home depot pricing for hard maple. What? I ask about the advertised 3.50 a board foot price, I was told that was the price without sawing. I told her great I would buy a beam and have it sawed myself. I was told they don’t sell wholesale. WTF? So they will not sell lumber at their advertised price. That is a scam I believe…

This is tiresome yet normal to me, Is this normal to you?

Around here 12/4 maple is not that easy to find. What you are getting is a flitch those five boards would make a nice slip match table top.
If it’s nice and dry and has good mineral streaks.
Sounds like a nice find.
One way of looking at it.

If they will not sell an advertised item for the advertised price, then I believe that would be known as bait and switch and is illegal for retailers in every state of which I am aware. They could probably get away with it to upcharge for sawing, but to refuse to sell without sawing, nope.

Definitely a place to avoid.

Every time i think i find a deal its a scam. I have been to several sawmills this summer and its the same everytime.

Back woods sawyers will use images from google to lure you out. When you get there of course ’’it just sold’’ . The Reclaimed lumber sawmills do the heavy up charge because they know folks will pay it.

I have learned my lesson.

Have your say...
