HELLO FELLOW WOODWORKERS…PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE POST-WE NEED YOUR HELP!
REMEMBER, IT’S NOT ABOUT WHICH TEAM YOU ROOT FOR…
My 11 year old daughter, Emma has been chosen by the BOSTON RED SOX as a finalist for their Kid Nation Captain’s contest. The contest involved submitting an essay about what the Kids Helping Kids program could do in your community. Emma came up with the idea of 5th and 6th grade students volunteering at local homeless shelters to tutor children. Emma needs your vote in order to become one of the 12 winners who will become Red Sox Kid Nation Captains. She will have the opportunity to be involved in an on-field ceremony at Fenway Park in Boston in front of 40,000 fans!!, as well as other related benefits and responsibilities associated with being a Red Sox Kid Nation Captain. Emma has been a GOOD LUCK CHARM for the RED SOX since the first game she attended at Fenway in 2004. We all remember that year as SOX fans!! Since then she has been to 12 SOX vs. yankees games (not a typo, she doesn’t capitalize “THAT TEAM”). The Sox have beat the yankees in 9 of the 12 games she’s attended. I think they should give her season tix, she’s been GREAT luck for them and they could use the help. Emma has been a faithful SOX fan, which hasn’t been easy since we live in upstate NY. She is a dedicated defender of RED SOX NATION up here in yankee country.
PLEASE TAKE A MINUTE TO CAST A VOTE FOR EMMA BY GOING TO THE FOLLOWING RED SOX LINK BELOW:
http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/bos/fan_forum/kn_captain_ballot_form.jsp
(if you have a problem with the link…try to type in “redsox.com/kidnation” in your browser, then click on the gray “VOTE NOW” button) MAKE SURE YOU VOTE FOR “EMMA from ROME, NY”. THANKS FOR READING. EMMA AND I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP.

PLEASE CONSIDER POSTING THIS TO YOUR FB WALL OR SEND TO YOUR FB FRIENDS VIA “MESSAGES” AND/OR SENDING THIS OUT AS AN EMAIL TO YOU EMAIL LISTS AT WORK AND HOME :-))))) THANKS AGAIN. I’LL KEEP YOU POSTED ON THE RESULTS. CROSS YOUR FINGERS!
Scott

GOOD NEWS….EMMA IS THE NEWEST RED SOX KID NATION CAPTAIN

We appreciate the efforts of those that took the time to vote for her. The process could have been easier and many of you went above and beyond the call of duty to cast your votes. We are very grateful to all. Emma is ecstatic about this opportunity and is eager to begin her two year term, which begins with her 1st meeting at Fenway Park this Saturday. Emma realizes how lucky she is and is shocked by the support she has received from so many people she doesn’t even know. She is still trying to respond to all of you who emailed her with words of encouragement. We have no idea who many of the people are who sent her good luck messages. This is evidence of the extra effort people put into helping us spread the word. The overwhelming support she has received from all of you has strengthened her belief that one person can effect many, which ultimately results in endless possibilities for a better world. ONCE AGAIN, THANKS SO MUCH FOR HELPING TO MAKE THIS DREAM A REALITY FOR MY DAUGHTER!!
