I’m sad to report that my local woodworking tools hardware store is going out of business due to the economy. They’ve had excellent selection and service and good prices but couldn’t survive the drop in construction activity in southwest Montana.
I’ve been wanting a high quality bench vice for some time and snapped up their only Jorgenson 41012 for a good price. It was the floor model with no returns allowed. When I got home and looked at it closely the main screw was bent about 3/16” along its length. It might have still worked but I was reluctant to take the risk. I got a hold of Jim at ADJUSTABLE CLAMP COMPANY’s customer service who said he didn’t doubt me but he had never heard of the screw being bent. And I believe him given the stoutness of the screw and can only think someone must have dropped it just right. Anyway, Jim willingly replaced the screw under warranty and I have received the new one within a week. The vice looks like a well made quality tool that will last a lifetime.
Too often we hear of customer service problems but not often enough of good customer service, which I got from the ADJUSTABLE CLAMP COMPANY. And the vice is made in Illinois, USA. I wanted to share this with the LJ community and my thanks to the ADJUSTABLE CLAMP COMPANY.
