Topic tags/keywords: question cherry

Here are two pics of logs that my neighbor identified as cherry. Anyone care to confirm this?

The rest he thought was oak (not in the picture), which he was not particularly interested in. We still didn’t talk about sharing arrangements but I’m sure we can work something out.

cherry?
cherry?

Looks like cherry, but it’s not a great picture…smell it, that should be a dead give away.

It looks like cherry to me also. That does not mean it is cherry ‘cause it’s hard to be certain from the pictures. It also looks like it is green.

I know what cherry smells like but I cannot think of any way to describe it in words. One might say that it smells a little (just a little) like the cherry fruit.

Yea, hard to describe the smell. I assumed you had smelled it before. It is a pleasant sweet smell, not like most wet wood.

Green as in freshly cut? It was cut in October 2009.

Will smell the wood tomorrow and take better pictures. Thanks for the replies so far.
